Dance your socks off at FUSE - The Event in a Tent 2010

A Walk on the Wild Side

One of our intrepid committee members Rob Ings will be 'Walking His Socks Off' to raise funds for 'Fuse-The Event in a Tent'. This is not a stroll but the 190 mile 'Coast to Coast' walk made famous by Wainwright or if you prefer 'Julia Bradbury'.

A few details about Rob; he was an active sportsman, particularly good with, the bat and ball until the decline set in. For some reason best known to him he started to walk with LAME (Lichfield Alternative Mountaineering Club). He quickly realised that being a heavy smoker and walking up big hills is not a good combination, so common sense prevailed and the fags went in the bin.

With a few training trips to the Lakes under the auspices of his personal trainer 'Brian Pretty' he is confident of completing the journey from St Bees in Cumbria to Robin Hood's Bay North Yorkshire.

You can walk with him, he starts March 20th and will finish on the 3rd April, if you wish to for the complete walk or just one section - shortest 12 miles, longest 23 miles - or better still (and much easier) make a donation or sponsor him. Every penny raised will go towards our FREE community arts event -Fuse 2010 -The Event in a Tent, This is our tenth Anniversary and Fuse has been so successful that it is now costing £30,000, so any financial help would be appreciated.

Even better, if you complete the Gift Aid Declaration the taxman will give us more money rather than the bankers!

Lichfield Arts, organisers of Fuse - The event in a tent, have announced the dates and theme for the tenth FREE community music and arts festival.

Fuse will take place in Beacon Park, Lichfield from Friday 9th to Sunday 11th July 2010 and will have the theme 'Dance Your Socks Off!'. Fuse aims to give local people and visitors in the district the chance to experience or take part in a wide variety of arts events and activities and there's going to be lots of dance workshops and events at the festival as well as music, performances, art and crafts.

Every year Lichfield Arts also runs an 'Outreach Project' in the weeks leading up to Fuse and next year it will involve local people of all ages in workshops and rehearsals leading to a large, exciting, innovative community dance performance at Fuse.

Lichfield Arts are working with the Garrick Theatre and Lichfield District Council and are inviting local schools, dance and community groups to special presentations to explain the project further on Tuesday 24 November. Groups that want to be involved will need to be willing to work with new and experimental dance ideas. The presentation for primary schools is at 5.00pm and the presentation for other interested high schools, dance and community groups is at 7.00pm in the Ashmole Room, the Guildhall, Bore Street, Lichfield. Everyone welcome.

Fuse Director, Tim Perks, said "We are delighted to be working with the Garrick Theatre and Lichfield District Council on this exciting project, which aims to get people involved in dancing and enjoying different aspects of dance. We hope the local community will get involved with the spectacular show at Fuse 2010".
